Shakira’s worldwide smash hit ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ has been named at the song of the year at this year’s MTV Latin America Music Awards.
Reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee was named artist of the year, while Robbie Williams dropped his trousers to celebrate being named best international pop artist at the Mexico City ceremony.
The awards were held for the first time outside Miami.
"MTV finally understood that Miami is not Latin America," presenter and actor Diego Luna commented.
The main winners at the awards were Mexican act Panda, who scooped three trophies - best band, best alternative artist and newcomer of the year.
Shakira’s hoping her luck will hold out until the Latin Grammys next month (November 2), where she’s up for five awards.
