Shakira has revealed she’ll donate the profits from a concert in her hometown to build an arts school for nearly 2000 kids forced to leave their homes during Colombia’s civil war.
The concert is part of the pop princess’ Oral Fixation world tour and will be held in Barranquilla on November 15.
The English and Spanish-speaking school will be called Descalzos (which is Spanish for ‘Bare Feet’) foundation. The school will have an emphasis on teaching the arts.
The school will be built in La Playa, which is a poor suburb of Barranquilla. Over 45% of the area’s residents are kids, of which only half go to school.
Tickets for Shakira’s concert in Barranquilla start at just $7 each, whereas tickets for her other Colombian dates cost up to $200.
Shakira was recently nominated for five Latin Grammy awards.
