Quincy Jones has been appointed as a special adviser for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Joining the Grammy-winner on the advisory panel are also movie directors Steven Spielberg and Ang Lee.
Legendary producer Jones will compose an original song for the games. He was asked to get involved with the Olympics following his announcement in China in May that he’d like to compose for the ceremony which takes place in August 2008.
Jones’ career has spanned six decades and across music, publishing, television and movies.
