The officer who arrested Mel Gibson for drink-driving has had his home searched by police investigating how the actor’s anti-Semitic rants leaked to the public.
Investigators raided the home of Deputy James Mee last month and seized his computer, telephone records and other documents.
A spokesperson would not refuse or deny the report, but said: the department is "investigating the unauthorised release of documents connected to the investigation" of the case.
Officials initially claimed that Gibson was arrested "without incident". But parts of a police report leaked to TMZ.com stated that the film-maker acted in a hostile manner, tried to escape from custody and threatened to “get even” with Mee.
Mee also reported that Gibson made a statement in which he blamed Jews for "all the wars in the world".
Earlier this week, Gibson described his outburst as “the stupid rambling of a drunkard."
