Nicole Richie Confirms Split from Brody Jenner. The Guy She Wasn't Dating.

Brody Jenner and Nicole RichieNicole Richie posted the following message on her MySpace.com page yesterday: "I know there are rumors regarding my 'breakup' with Brody Jenner. The truth is, we were never really together. We hung out, and he's a nice guy, but my heart was never in it. Anything further is just a cry for publicity."

So even though they were never "together" - uh, they've split up.

"Nicole and Brody are no longer dating but remain friends," Richie's rep confirms to People.

The couple, who are childhood friends, had been "not-dating" since August.

They began hanging out together - but not dating - after Jenner, 23, ended his 1 1/2 year relationship with Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari, and Richie, 25, broke off her engagement to Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein.
