Leonardo DiCaprio says he almost became “arrogant” after becoming mega-famous with his role in ‘Titanic’.
The actor says he struggled to cope with his new-found fame after the 1997 movie.
"As soon as people give you compliments and you suddenly have more power than you've ever had in your entire life, it's not so much you become an arrogant dick, but you get a false sense of your own importance,” 31-year-old Leo says.
"You're treading on dangerous territory when you begin thinking you've actually altered the course of history."
Although Leo had previously starred in movies, like ‘Romeo & Juliet’ with Claire Danes and ‘What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?’ with Johnny Depp, it was his role as Jack Dawson in the box-office record-breaking ‘Titanic’ which made him a global star.
Leo admits that becoming so famous so quickly was too much for him to get his head around.
"Everything happened so quickly. I began to feel engulfed by it," he says.
