Saying it was "cruel to keep me on", Dancing With the Star booted non-dancer Jerry Springer from the contest last night. Springer and partner Kym Johnson were very popular with the fans and had survived the ABC reality show's first six rounds.
"This show belongs to people who really can dance," the emotional trash talk show host said, relieved to be finally eliminated.
Springer, a former Cincinnati mayor, was the oldest of the contestants and used humor to entertain the audience since he could not physically compete with the likes of Emmitt Smith, and actors Mario Lopez, Joey Lawrence and Monique Coleman. Springer has finished last for several weeks but his good-nature and his willingness to make a fool of himself kept him in the contest.
Springer said he agreed to come on the show originally so he could learn to dance before his daughter's wedding. "Thank you for having me. And thank you for letting me go home," he said in his farewell Wednesday after he received the lowest score from the judges and viewers.
