Hip hop superstar Jay-Z has been barred from performing his first ever concert in China by officials because he curses too much in his songs.
Concert promoter Sun Yun told the ‘Shanghai Daily’ that officials from the ministry of culture refused to grant Jay-Z permission because of his "vulgar language" and references to drug dealers, violence and guns in his music.
Earlier this year, the Black Eyed Peas were allowed to perform in the country despite the adult content of some of their songs, and the Rolling Stones were asked not to play songs with suggestive lyrics.
