Angelina Jolie says she’s “disappointed” about not being able to shoot her latest movie in Pakistan due to safety concerns.
The actress is about to start filming ‘A Mighty Heart’, about American journalist Daniel Pearl who was kidnapped and murdered in Pakistan in 2002.
"I am disappointed that we could not shoot the film in Pakistan, a country that I love and have visited three times," Jolie says in a statement.
"They talked with people from all levels of the Pakistan government and there's certainly no hard feelings, but it became clear that it was preferable to film in India," her rep adds.
Angelina will play Pearl’s widow, Mariane, who wrote the book on which the movie is based. The movie will focus on why Pearl was in Pakistan, his abduction and his wife’s search to find him.
Jolie describes the movie as being about "cross-cultural understanding and the values that people of all faiths share".
She arrived in Pune, India last week with her partner Brad Pitt, who is producing the movie, and their three children.
