"It was the hardest boyfriend I ever had to break up with," Stacey "Fergie" Ferguson said of crystal meth in a recent interview with Time magazine. The Black Eyed Pea singer says she first realized she had a drug problem when she spent eight hours talking to a dirty clothes hamper.
Fergie says she fell into a deep depression after the failure of her all-girl group Wild Orchid in 2001 and that led to a dependence on crystal meth and ecstasy, plus a dangerous drop in body weight.
She says it was only after she spent 8 hours in a drug-induced stupor talking to a clothes basket that she realized she needed help with her drug problem. Fergie told Time, "It was the hardest boyfriend I ever had to break up with."
Fergie, who has released her first solo album, The Dutchess, added, "It's the drug that's addicting, but it's why you start doing it in the first place that's interesting. A lot of it was being a child actor; I learned to suppress feelings."
The mag is on the shelves today.
