R&B songstress Ashanti has testified in a New York court in a contrast dispute with her former music producer.
Genard Parker says he is owed $2.3m (£1.2m) from Ashanti, for helping to start her career. But the star’s lawyers claim he is only entitled to $50,000 (£26,593).
25-year-old Ashanti Douglas was ordered to pay Parker $630,000 (£335,000) by a New York Jury last year, but the judge later rejected most of the reward as the jurors did not have enough information to determine the damages.
Parks, who Ashanti hasn’t seen since 1997, claims the singer signed a deal giving him a percentage of sales from her first three albums. But her lawyer claim the agreement later become void.
