Katharine McPhee has trouble making it to the stage. The Idol runner-up has finally joined the "American Idols Live" tour after summer illnesses of bronchitis and laryngitis, but the California girl tripped backstage before a performance Tuesday night. In fracturing her left foot, she's continued the tradition of Idol runner ups who haven broken bones on the summer tour.
Still, it didn't prevent Katherine from hobbling on stage in gardening slippers for two songs during the tour stop in Charlotte, N.C.
The incident is follows similar odd fates suffered by Diana DeGarmo, who fell down a flight of stairs during a 2004 tour and tore a ligament in her foot, and Bo Bice who broke his foot at an Idols Live concert in 2005.
A rep from Katherine's record label said that X-rays showed a hairline fracture in Katherine's foot, but that she will stay on the tour. “Nothing's changed. She's still going to perform, just in a temporary cast. She's in some discomfort, but she's not letting that get in the way of her doing her thing,” the rep said.
