Hip hop superstar Jay-Z will draw attention to the fact that one billion live without clean drinking water as part of his forthcoming world tour.
Jay-Z, who is working in collaboration with the United Nations, will visit poverty-stricken regions as part of the tour which will be followed by a programme by MTV.
The rapper hopes his efforts will get the message across to young people that water needs to be saved.
"As I started looking around at ways I can become helpful, it started with water,” he says. “If the information was out and young people knew that these problems exist... we'll get involved," he says.
The UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has described the water crisis is "one of the most important issues on the agenda for the United Nations," and he hopes Jay-Z’s involvement will help raise awareness.
