Justin Timberlake has announced he’s turning his back on the pop sound of his debut and hopes to push the genre’s boundaries with his new album, ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds‘.
"I realise that I have a platform to push the sound of pop music. That's the only responsibility that I put on myself in recording the album," he told journalists at a news conference.
"If I'm not going to push it, then who's going to push it?"
To create his boundary-busting sound he’s enlisted the help of innovative super-producer Timbaland.
His new album hits the shelves on September 11. Its lead single is ‘Sexy Back’, which Justin says: "The best way I can describe that song is say David Bowie and David Byrne decided to do a cover of James Brown's ‘Sex Machine’.”
