You know him as the Jherri-Curled, Bible-thumping hit man in "Pulp Fiction" reciting Ezekial 25-17, and now actor Samuel L. Jackson will voice God in a new audio version of the Bible being recorded with all black actors. A source tells British newspaper The Daily Telegraph, "Samuel's just finished recording a CD set of the New Testament. "Scores of other black actors, musicians and athletes will also figure, but Samuel was deemed to be the perfect person to play God."
The "Snakes on a Plane" actor rose to stardom after his character in Pulp Fiction lectured his victims in Pulp Fiction before popping a cap in their heads: "And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers, and you will know my name is The Lord, when I lay my vengeance upon thee!"
Other actors to offer their voices to the Bible audio includes Denzel Washington, Angela Bassett, Blair Underwood, and my favorite, Cuba Gooding Jr. who will be the voice of Judas (as in "Show me the money!")
The New Testament in CD and MP3 formats will be in retail outlets — secular and Christian, storefront and online — by September. The Old Testament follows in 2007.
