Musical superstar Prince is to split from his second wife, People magazine has reported.
The magazine cites Prince’s lawyer, Alan Eidsness, as saying a sealed divorce action was filed in a Minnesota court in May.
The 48-year-old ‘Purple Rain’ singer, whose real name is Prince Rogers Nelson, and 29-year-old Manuela Testolini married in Hawaii in New Year’s Eve, 2001 in a Jehovah‘s Witness ceremony.
The couple, who had no children together, met when the Toronto native worked at Prince’s charity.
Prince was previously married to back-up dancer and singer Mayte Garcia in the mid-90s, but their marriage was later annulled. They had a child together who died shortly after birth.
Prince’s publicist has not been available for comment.
