Madonna’s ‘Like A Prayer’ and Britney’s ‘Baby One More Time’ have topped an MTV poll to find music videos which “broke the rules”.
‘Like A Prayer’, which was branded blasphemous by Christian organisations in 1989 and featured the controversial singer dancing around burning crosses and kissing a black Jesus, came in at number one at the poll.
Madonna emerged as the controversy queen by having two other videos, ‘Ray of Light’ and ‘Vogue‘, in the top five.
While ‘Baby One More Time’, which showed teen star Britney in a school uniform, was voted into second place and Michael Jackson’s 13-minute horror epic, ‘Thriller‘, taking the number three spot.
