Madonna, the Blessed Mother of Kabbalah, is reportedly tiring of the mystical cult's money-hungry needs. Reports are indicating that most of the money the singer has donated is going directly to the leaders of the faith, Philip and Karen Berg. In just four years, the Material Girl has dropped more than $4.4 million (£2.4 million) on Kabbalah. Oy! It's taken her this long to figure out she was overcharged for that stupid red string bracelet?
The donations were revealed in the US tax records for Madonna's Ray of Light Foundation, which document every payment made by her to the high priests, the Bergs, since 2001. Fox News' Roger Friedman quipped: "The Bergs must have thought they had died and gone to heaven."
The Bergs filed a 2004 tax return that revealed they have amassed over $21 million (£11.5 million) in assets thanks to celebrities like Madonna falling for their invented modern version of ancient Kabbalah.
The mouthpiece who works for Madonna is duty bound to deny the story and insists the singer has no plans to cut any strings. She said: "As far as I am aware, it is completely untrue."
