Boy George will perform his court-ordered community service by picking up trash on New York City streets, a sanitation spokesman said, adding, "This is the epitome of community service. It's not like he's going to be working in an air-conditioned office." The former Culture Club frontman will be given a shovel, broom, plastic bags and gloves and will be on trash duty for five days beginning August 14.
The singer was ordered to do community service after pleading guilty in March to false reporting of an incident. He called police with a bogus report of a burglary at his lower Manhattan apartment in October, and the cops found cocaine sitting out in the open.
The sanitation department spokesman said George could be assigned to pick up streets in Chinatown, Little Italy, Nolita or a section of the Lower East Side, and you can be sure he'll attract a crowd of stalkerazzi and Culture Club fans.
