‘American Idol’ winner Taylor Hicks has put pen to paper and signed the record contract which came along with the smash hit TV show.
The grey-haired soul singer has inked a deal with Clive Davis and 19 Recordings Limited - the label created by Simon Fuller, the man behind ‘Idol‘.
Taylor’s first release will be a double A side single of ‘Do I Make You Proud?’, which he performed on the show’s final, and ‘Takin’ It To The Streets’, a Doobie Brothers cover. It will hit stores on June 13th.
The 29-year-old will release a full-length album later this year, it’s been reported. He’ll work under the guidance of Clive Davis - who helped develop the sound and careers of previous ‘Idol’ winners.
"He definitely has his own sound," Davis has revealed.. "He does have that gift, you know who it is when you hear him."
Taylor scooped the American Idol title on May 24th, beating brunette babe Katharine McPhee.
