'Survivor’ winner Chris Daugherty lied to get time off from his job to take part in a promo tour for the reality TV series, an investigation has found.
Chris, who won the ninth series of the show, filed a force claim that he needed time off from his job as a state highway worker because he was stressed and depressed, a hearing ruled on Thursday. Instead he jetted to Europe to promote the show.
The 35-year-old scooped the $1 million prize in 2004 after winning the ‘Survivor: Vanuatu - Islands of Fire,’ but went back to his over $30,000 dollar-a-year job.
Daugherty could either be fined or sacked from his job for lying, it’s been revealed
“Daugherty’s claim that he had an illness which just happened to coincide with his ’Survivor’ tour is simply not credible,” chief investigator Les Reel states.
When his requests for time off had been denied - because he’s already used up all his vacation and sick days - he submitted a false doctor’s note to support his illness claims, stating he needed a month off work to recover.
When his request was once again denied, Chris even submitted a request for military leave - even though he’d never been in the army - because the tour was scheduled to visit a German military base.
No wonder Chris was so eager to attend the tour, as he was paid $8,000 to take part.
