It's become a "She Said, She Said" Battle of words between newly unemployed talk show hostess Star Jones Reynolds and her former mentor Barbara Walters. When the Jones announced that she was leaving "The View" LIVE ON THE AIR on Tuesday morning, it apparently stunned her co-workers and the audience, causing Barbara WahWah to later criticize the move. Now Star is insisting she did it because Barbara "didn't have my back."
Star told Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM morning show on Wednesday morning that she was the one who was actually betrayed by Barbara, not the other way around.
She claims the animosity began when she found out her contract was not being renewed after nine years and that Rosie O'Donnell was being added as a co-host.
"I honestly understood it was a business decision when I was told then (that her contract wasn't being renewed), but then in the same week, I was told that they were adding another co-host and that it was Rosie O'Donnell. And that was in the same week that she had been so nasty and insulting and vicious. (She) publicly she insulted me; she tried to damage me professionally and personally," Star said.
"If anyone should feel betrayed, then it should probably be me. Because in the same week that I was told I was not being renewed, that's the same week that Rosie O'Donnell vilified me in the media and the exact same week that Barbara, my mentor, my colleague and friend of nine years, called her and invited her to be co-host on The View. She didn't have my back."
Let's see who will have the last word...
