Biblical movie 'The Passion of the Christ' has been named the most controversial movie ever made, by Entertainment Weekly magazine.
Mel Gibson’s movie, which recalls Jesus Christ’s last 12 hours, began a "culture-war firestorm unrivalled in Hollywood history", a magazine spokesperson says.
It sent ripples throughout the world due to its extremely violent content and many because believed it was anti-Semitic.
Stanley Kubrick‘s surreal ‘A Clockwork Orange‘ took second place. The movie’s gang rape scene reportedly sparked copycat attacked throughout the UK and police said the level of attention it was receiving was “demonic”.
New movie ‘The Da Vinci Code’, based on the book in which Dan Brown claims Jesus had a relationship and children with Mary Magdelene, took the 13th place.
Another recent film, ‘United 93’ took 16th place because many believe it was made too soon after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
'Basic Instinct', 'Fahrenheit 9/11' and 'JFK' also made the list.
