Supermodels aren't used to getting chilly responses from guys but Arctic Monkeys heart throb Alex Turner turned down a date with Kate Moss. Her offer shocked him so much he turned to his mom for advice and naturally, she told the young rocker to stay clear: "There was no way she wanted her son involved with Kate after all her cocaine carry on," a source said.
A source close to the band explained to The Sun newspaper: “Alex was amazed when Kate came backstage and said she loved the band. When someone like Kate Moss asks for your number you give it to her. He never thought she’d actually call."
“He was home in Sheffield when the phone rang and this girl said ‘Hi, it’s Kate’. He thought it was one of the girls he used to go to school with asking for free tickets. When he asked ‘Kate who?’ he freaked out when she said it was Kate Moss.”
“She asked him if he wanted to meet up and he mumbled something about being busy with the band and he’d have to see.”
“Then she followed it up with a few texts and he panicked and told his mum Penny. She is a straight-laced teacher and had already warned him about getting mixed up with drugs while in the band."
Alex, 20, either wasn't interested or was too intimidated to get back to the 32-year-old model. Or maybe he doesn't need her kind of drama, since she's already been linked to Russell Brand, Pete Doherty, model Jamie Burke and Dirty Pretty Things rocker Anthony Rossomando this year.
That, plus the fact that last fall the Monkey called Pete's groups The Libertines and Babyshambles "pretentious" and said Doherty hadn't achieved anything musically: “Libertines gigs were full of private school kids, their music was pretentious, really. Come to our gigs and it’s normal working people having a great time. That’s what music’s about.”
The rocker ignored the text and kept dating his current girlfriend. Kate eventually gave up.
