Welsh pop star Charlotte Church is warning her fans to stay away from the entertainment biz, saying that fame might make a mess of their lives. Charlotte, the Lohan of the UK, became famous at the age of 12 and says that the spotlight has been rough. "If I had to give advice to young girls who want to be famous, I'd say, unless you have thick skin like me, and nerves of steel, don't do it."
The disillusioned 20-year-old, who shot to fame with "Voice of an Angel", said that she was overwhelmed by all the recognition she received. "Being a teenager is confusing enough without having to read all these conflicting opinions about you in the press."
"I think once you are a bit older and have yourself sorted and know what kind of person you are, you are probably better-equipped to deal with it. That is the stage that I think I've reached now."
She said her celebrity stems from her voice which is a talent she first used when she was too young to understand stardom. "It wasn't about fame when I first appeared on television - I was only 12 and I just wanted to sing. To be honest, I didn't really understand anything that was going on at that time."
