Pixar’s animated comedy ‘Cars’ has hit the number one spot on the US box office chart in its debut weekend.
The movie, which features the voices of Owen Wilson and Paul Newman, made $62.8m (£34m) in three days. This makes it Pixar’s third most successful opening after ‘The Incredibles’ and ‘Finding Nemo’.
Last week’s number one, Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn’s rom-com ‘The Break-Up’ fell to the number two.
New Lindsay Lohan movie, ‘A Prairie Home Companion’, was another new release this week. It charted at number seven.
