Fans of teen drama "The OC" are furious with star Mischa Barton for revealing beforehand that her character, Marissa Cooper, was going to die in last night's season finale. The actress was interviewed by Access Hollywood on a show that was aired hours before The OC aired. There have been reports for months that Mischa wanted to leave the show to pursue a movie career, but the show's producers kept the ending top secret - even filming scenes where other characters died - but Mischa appears so anxious to leave that she blabbed about Marissa's drug overdose and spoiled the surprise for many fans.
When asked about rumors and reports, Mischa told Access: "It's true, it's true. My character dies."
The 20-year-old actress added, "I think the show is moving in a new direction. This was a great opportunity for everyone. I was just really excited about giving everybody a good finale. You know, they needed a big season finale at the end of this year and we've had three great years and my character has been through so, so much and there's really nothing more left for her to do. So I hope this fulfills everything that the fans want and everything that the people wanted for our characters."
Mischa also talked about the future plans of the show saying, "I'm also excited for them to go on next year and do another season. They've got some young actors coming in and I think it's going to be great for the fans."
