Avril Lavigne says she aims to pursue a film career as well as her singing, and hopes to see the same kind of long term success enjoyed by the likes of Barbra Streisand and Bette Midler. The 21-year-old singer has two new films coming out: "Over the Hedge" (a voiceover roll) and "Fast Food Nation." When asked which career she is focusing on, she says, "Both. I'd love to go further. I think it's important for me to do it the right way and be smart about it and wait for the right parts in the right movies."
The singer explains it was a "conscious decision" to "start off small and to warm up".
She says: "I wouldn't just want to throw myself into a big part. This was a great first film and then I did Fast Food Nation."
"I just did a scene in another movie, "The Flock", just to see how it was. I like it. I'm ready and open to doing more."
