Singer-songwriter Babyface has slapped Anita Baker with a breach of contract lawsuit, claiming she owes him over $250,000.
Babyface, who has penned hits for Mariah Carey, Mary J Blige, and Boyz II Men, claims the singer broke two verbal agreements.
Firstly, he claims she owes him at least $100,000 in royalties from sales of her 2004 album "My Everything", on which he co-wrote, produced and performed on the song "Like You Used To Do".
The 47-year-old also claims Baker had agreed to perform four concerts with him, but she cancelled two of the shows and refused to pay up his $150,000 fees for those dates.
"Artists are used to working with producers, making the albums and doing the paperwork later,” Babyface’s lawyer, Howard King, has said.
“It's always an oral agreement in this business," he added.
