Frankie Muniz is leaving Hollywood behind, for now. The 20-year-old recently filmed the last episode of his hit TV series "Malcolm In The Middle" and has just signed up for life in the fast lane.
"I got signed to race for Jensen Motor Sports for the next two years. I'm now a professional race car driver," he said. "I'm racing Indy cars, like Formula One cars, and racing on road courses."
With "Malcolm" ending it's 7-year run this spring, Frankie said, "I have had an incredible time these past 8 years as an actor. Having done little else but work since age 12, and with a passion for fast cars, professional race car driving is something that I am really excited to pursue".
Not only that, he's got wedding plans in his near future. The successful film and Emmy nominated television actor says he and future wife, Jamie Gandy, plan to move to New Orleans this summer. "New Orleans is where she was born and raised. We want to leave L.A., and New Orleans is where she is the happiest.”
He doesn't plan to leave acting completely behind, but a new wife and an exciting new career will certainly take most of his time. Nevertheless, he's bothered by friends and fans who have been less than supportive of his marriage and racing plans.
“If I am making a mistake then I need to be the one who makes the mistake,” he says. “Life is all about learning and growing. I can’t do that if other people tell me what to do. Growing up has never scared me until last year. I started thinking about getting older, being an adult, and it scared me. Hopefully, things will work out in my career. If they don’t then it was never meant to be.”
