Victoria's Secret swimsuit model Bar Refaeli has caused an outcry in her native Israel over accusations of dodging her required military service.
Refaeli, 20, avoided having to enlist with the Israeli army by secretly getting married a week before she was due to report for duty in 2004, reports the Evening Standard. All Israeli women ages 18-20 must serve in the military unless they're ultra-religious, physically disabled -- or married.
Hundreds of letters from outraged Israelis were sent to newspapers when it was revealed she had married a much older man, believed to be a family friend, to escape the mandatory draft. Furious mothers accused her of being unpatriotic and 'jetting about the world with millionaires and movie stars' while their daughters risked their lives serving their country.
A family "friend" told the London newspaper, "Everyone knows why she got married. It doesn't take a genius to work it out."
Apparently, the stunning Bar is not married anymore. She's Leonardo DiCaprio's new girlfriend now, replacing Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen who split with Leo in December.
