Hip hop fans have been remembering legendary rapper The Notorious B.I.G, nine years after his murder.
The hip hop star, whose real name was Christopher Wallace, was shot dead nine years ago outside a "VIBE" magazine party on March 9th in 1997. His murder remains unsolved.
Biggie became known as the King of New York, after his now-classic albums “Ready to Die” and “Life After Death”, raised the standard of East Coast rap and influenced practically every modern hip hop artist you can think of.
B.I.G left behind his mother, Voletta, estranged wife R&B singer Faith Evans, and his children.
His legacy was recently continued through the release of the album “Duets”, on which his raps are combined with new material from top artists like Nelly, Diddy, Missy Elliott, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige and R. Kelly.
