Smarmy actor William Shatner has been confounding "Boston Legal" fans this season, getting married, losing his marbles, showing his heart belongs to fellow snake lawyer Alan Shore on the once cool-but-increasingly-ridiculous show.
And now it looks like the writers may have Captain Kirk trekking to the other side for an episode or two with an "is he or is he not" gay theme.
The Internet has been buzzing for weeks about the possibility of the legal superstud Denny Crane switching teams. It started with the WOW Report (worldofwonder.net) which announced: "We hear from a 'reliable spy' that the always inappropriate hetero horndog Denny Crane will be turning gay soon for at least an episode, or an arc, if not forever."
For now, Shatner is denying the rumors. "There are no two straighter guys than Denny and Alan (played by James Spader)," he told the Sun Herald last week during a phone interview, "but we've discussed that a number of times, and we're not unaware... that the proximity of Denny to Alan is ... somewhat suggestive."
But Shatner being Shatner, he couldn't resist the opportunity to tease BL fans with a final visual set-up: "In a future scene, Denny will be taking a milk bath with Alan, and we're hoping that causes a stir."
