Sad news for Aerosmith fans: frontman Steven Tyler will undergo throat surgery this week and the band has to cancel the remaining dates of its North American tour.
The band's publicist, Marcee Rondan, said Tuesday that Tyler was "doing fine" but declined to elaborate on his condition.
"Despite Aerosmith's desire to keep the tour going as long as possible, Tyler's doctors advised him not to continue performing to give his voice time to recover," Rondan said in a statement, siting that the band has canceled eight shows since March 4, and will scrap the remaining 12 dates of the tour.
Tyler, who turns 58 on Sunday, will be whispering for awhile will he recovers. He will be unable to sing for two to three months following the operation.
