Announcing that "Sundance is getting out of control", founder Robert Redford fears his once highly regarded Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, is attracting the wrong kind of people.
Like Paris Hilton for example.
After seeing the publicity-hungry celebrities like Paris attend the event last month, Redford didn't hang out much at his own festival. He has seen the intimate 25-year-old festival which was designed to showcase low-budget and independent films, turn into a long Hollywood party with celebrities competing for attention and crowding out the up-and-coming filmmakers who actually need the exposure.
Redford told Newsweek magazine, "To the outside world, it's a big fat market where you have people like Paris Hilton going to parties. Now, she doesn't have anything to do with anything,' he said, referring to the fact that she has no film in the event. (BURN!!)
"I think the festival is close to being out of control."
