Fans are excited to hear the news that Bryce Dallas Howard has landed the role of Peter Parker's love interest Gwen Stacy in "Spider-Man 3" which starts filming later this month.
A bit of background for non-fans: Gwen Stacy is Peter's high school crush and first love, and is considered to be one of the more popular comic book characters of all time. She ended up being kidnapped by the Green Goblin and was killed during a bridgetop battle in "Amazing Spider-Man" issue 121.
Though the studio is not revealing what will happen to her in the third movie (bets that she'll be in Spidey 4?), she will be part of a love triangle that includes Peter, played by Tobey Maguire, and Mary Jane Watson, played by the uber-hideous sasquatch, Kirsten Dunst -- whom Bryce will have absolutely no problems upstaging.
Topher Grace has been added to the cast to play Venom and as well as Thomas Haden Church as the Sandman. James Franco returns as Harry Osborn.
This will be the breakout year for Ron Howard's daughter as she continues to be signed on to big movies following her debut in "The Village." Bryce will be seen in director M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming "Lady in the Water" as well as Kenneth Branagh's "As You Like It". Her other film due out soon is "Manderlay" which opens January 27.
