The Hugs and Snubs at the Oscar Nominations

The list of Academy Award nominees was announced this morning and while there were a few surprises for who made the list, there were also surprises among the ommissions.
"Brokeback Mountain" lead with eight nominations as expected while George Clooney made history as the first ever nominee to get nods for Best Director and Best Supporting Actor for two different movies. Keira Knightley was a surprised nomination for best actress in "Pride and Prejudice" while more deserving Joan Allen for "The Upside of Anger" was left off the list. On the men's side, Russell Crowe was NOT nominated for "Cinderella Man" and he tops the list for this year's snubs. Ditto Eric Bana for "Munich." Leading the best picture of the year SNUBS are: "Cinderella Man", "The Constant Gardner", "Walk the Line", and "Pride and Prejudice".
Now for the nominees. The actors in a Leading Role are: Philip Seymour Hoffman {Capote},Terrence Howard {Hustle & Flow}, Heath Ledger {Brokeback Mountain}, Joaquin Phoenix {Walk The Line}, and David Strathairn {Good Night and Good Luck}.

In case you weren't watching the SAG awards last night, which means just about everybody, you missed that the overhyped, annointed movie "Brokeback Mountain" didn't win for best cast ensemble.

The cause of actor Chris Penn's death is still listed as unknown until toxicology tests from the autopsy can be reviewed. The "Reservoir Dogs" star was found dead in his Santa Monica home on Tuesday.
