It wasn't the goth spectacle his fans would have expected. Instead, shock rocker Marilyn Manson married his girlfriend, Dita Von Teese, in a fairytale wedding at Castle Gurteen in Ireland in front of 60 close family and friends on Saturday.
MTV.com reports the couple (real names Brian Warner and Heather Sweet) had a normal but stylish non-denominational ceremony where they exchange goblets of blood simple vows they wrote themselves. Marilyn, who wore a black silk taffeta tux, had once criticised Britney Spears' wedding to Kevin Federline for its tracksuits, and was quoted as saying that a wedding should be "grand".
The ceremony was performed by Chilean film director, Alejandro Jodorowsky, while German singer and bandleader Max Raabe provided the music. The guests included Lisa Marie Presley and C.S.I.'s Eric Szmanda.
"Everyone expected Manson and Dita to have some sort of crazy vampire wedding, but anyone who knows the couple knew it would be the classy, stylish affair that it was," a wedding guest told People. "They are totally in love."
But Marilyn's fans shouldn't be worried that the antichrist superstar is going to go a-changing. He has already signed up star in a supernatural vampire film called "King Shot" where he will play an ancient prophet.
"I'll be playing a 400-year-old prophet that lives in a hole in the ground and eats skinned ostriches and rapes women. And has thorns for teeth that come out of his lips," Marilyn said. "I'm not exaggerating."
