You gotta hand it to Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson who just successfully completed a 3-year charade poising as a happily married couple following their "Newlyweds" show.
The two have "officially" split, despite the fact that Nick has been chasing anything in a skirt the two have been strongly denying the rumors all year.
The couple released their statement through Us Weekly last week even though they were miffed at the magazine for printing a story back in October that the two were officially done. The press release came at 10 p.m. Wednesday night reading, "After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways. This is a mutual decision... (Yada, Yada) ... We have an enormous amount of respect for each other... (standard script)... We hope that you respect our privacy during this ... (Wait for it!) difficult time..."
But just a few days before the announcement, Joe Simpson was telling everyone that things were just swell between Nick and Jessica, and that Nick would be joining the family for Thanksgiving in Texas.
So this is bad timing for pappy Joe what with the holiday season and all upon us. He wanted them to give the marriage one last Christmas show -- uhm, I mean -- chance.
