AR 8 Second Leg: Never Sound Retreat

Faster than you can say "Stonewall Jackson must be spinning in his grave," we've arrived at leg two of the around the world East Coast race in The Amazing Race: Family Edition.

When last we left the bickering families, they were at the pit stop in Lancaster, Penn. Eager to get started, the families raced off to locate "The Big Shoe" House and get their next clue. Lots of shots of car doors opening and closing. Lots of confusion. Rolling of the eyes. Shouts of "Noooowon evah listens tooo meeeee!" Then we are treated to 9 IDENTICAL shots of the same "83 South" sign as the teams drive 110 miles to Washington D.C. via Baltimore. "Washington D.C.?" one family member asked. "What state is that in?"

The amazing part of this amazing race is that 4 adults in a car can't read directions. If it says "The Reflecting Pool in front of the Capital building," several of the team immediately thought "Ooooooooh! They must mean the OTHER reflecting pool in front of the phallus Washington monument!" Dumbasses.
, So off they race, the shouting Paolos trying to find a gas station (they're hard to find you know), the bratty twinkie kids (I'm seriously having evil wishes for that know-it-all kid), the w'dow Weaver and her constantly depressing widow banter, the Pinks ("Squeal!" "Shriek!" "OMG!" "Yeeeaaah!) who can make a car ride down the interstate sound like the front seat on the Kingda Ka Coaster in Jersey, and the Linz bruisers - who haven't shown much. Yet.

In this, The Cheesiest Race, the first espionage roadblock involved a "find-a-spy" task and exchange briefcases with the spook. And I must add here that Team My Three Daughters, or the Hooters family, is gonna have troubles with daddy before much longer. The race is barely begun and the pop is pooped. If they lose, it will be because of him. The Travelocity gnome from AR 6 had more pep than this guy.

After that easy task, the teams made their ways to Middleburg, Virginia, to the site of a civil war reinactment and their next clue, which was a Detour. In the detour, teams chose between "Heat of Battle" or "Heat of the Night." Wounded by cliches, most teams chose the physical task of carrying 5 soldiers on stretchers from the battlefield to a field hospital in order to get their next clue. The teams with smaller kids and overweight parents chose the easier task of filling 20 lanterns and lighting them.

I haven't seen so many "wounded" rebel soldiers lying on the ground since Scarlett O'Hara lifted her skirts and tip-toed over then in "Gone with the Wind." And did you see the families literally dump those wounded reinactors on the ground? Just - plop! and "Let's get another one!" Flip the stretcher and crashing down they went. Amazing that none of the play-acting injured actually got injured from that.

Well, the Weavers barely beat the Linz bruisers for first place and won a family trip to Bermuda. The Pinks (the Godlewski sisters) came in third. ("Squeal!" "Shriek!" "Ohmagosh!" "Yeeeaaah!)

And a final note: not only was the episode boring, but the cutest guy, Brock Rogers, 19, was eliminated along with his creepy domineering dad who sent the family in the wrong direction causing them to fall to last place. Too bad Brock wasn't on a regular 2-person AR race with his sister Brittney, 22 -- now THEY would have made a great team.

Frustrated that y'all haven't discovered her sex tape on yur own, Britney Spears has leaked a story that Oops! there's one out there. There must be a copy out there! So go find it, post the toxic video online already, and make her as famous as Paris.

"Britney Spears and Kevin Federline reportedly fear a steamy home sex video is about to be made public. A member of the singer's entourage is believed to have copied one of the couple's personal video tapes - allegedly recorded while Britney was still expecting baby son Sean Preston - and is threatening to release it."

A source told America's Us Weekly magazine: "He has threatened to release raunchy footage of the two taken before Spears looked pregnant."

During her pregnancy, Britney confessed her sex life was the best it had ever been. The sexy singer insisted her bedroom romps with husband Kevin had been red hot since she conceived.

Lindsay Lohan in Second Car Crash This Year

Paparazzi target Lindsay Lohan had yet another traffic accident this year when she crashed her beautiful black Mercedes in a head-on collision with a van on a West Hollywood street Tuesday afternoon.

The badly damaged Mercedes, with both the driver and passenger-side air bags deployed, was towed away. (Pic after the jump. And yes, you'll see her airbags aren't as big as they used to be.) It was the second crash Hohan has been involved in 4 months. She was slightly injured in a June crash but not in this one, although she was shaken up and taken to a hospital. Reports are saying the guy driving the van was okay too.

Witnesses said "dozens" of the tabloid snappers had been following Lohan before the crash, although according to an "exclusive" at Perezhilton.com, those witnesses made it clear there were no paps in sight when this crash happened:
, "Unlike her previous accident, we hear that this time, Lindsay was not being chased by the paparazzi. Lindsay was driving like a maniac and she hit a (red) van that was being driven by an employee of the Newsroom Cafe," a source told PerezHilton.com. "It was a head-on collision."

"Both Lohan's car and the van were totaled. Her airbags were deployed. It was awful! One of her tires ended up in the middle of the street."

According to PerezHilton's report, Lindsay and her friend went into an antiques store to call for help, before returning to the crashed convertible to fetch something important: "A few minutes later, Lindsay's female friend went running out back to the car, which was totaled. She went and grabbed all of Lindsay's stuff out of the car, which still had her music BLASTING." Hmmm...wonder what could have been so important that Lindsay had in her car??? Perhaps she wanted to make sure she had her purse and anything in it with her for safekeeping. You know, like her drivers license ... and stuff."

James Spader Easily Handles the Hero/Villain Role

Boston Legal's James Spader began developing the sleazy but likeable character of Alan Shore a few years ago on "The Practice" and is still trying to figure out what the character is all about. Audiences as well are conflicted as to whether they should loath or love Shore - which is exactly what creator David E. Kelley intended.

"I didn't really know much about the character at the time, but I had an idea of what Kelley wanted the character to do," Spader said in a rare interview with the Olympian. "He really wanted this very sort of volatile force at this well-established firm on 'The Practice' ... to stir things up."
, Kelley described the arrogant Alan Shore to Spader as someone whose friends would be both drawn to and repelled by him. "Kelley said, 'You know how you will have a friend sometimes who you are very compelled by and who you may love dearly, but they are very difficult to be friends with,' They are sometimes so appalling that you are very conflicted in your relationship with them. ... Kelley wanted [the audience] to be very conflicted about him."

"The most interesting heroes have a bit of villainy to them, and the most interesting villains have a certain bit of heroism in them," Spader explains. "I think [Shore] intends to do the right thing, but his view of the world is very different so, to get to the right place, he sometimes takes a path that goes through a very dark forest."

Spader adds that the writers are able to keep Shore likeable even when he does awful things. "He's a very strange guy. One of the things I like most about doing a television series is that I really don't have any idea what is going to happen," Spader says. "I love that."

Lil' Kim: "My Fellow Inmates are cool"

Lil' Kim has released a statement from her prison cell assuring fans that she is doing just fine after recently beginning her 366-day jail term for perjury and conspiracy at the Philadelphia Detention Center.

Kim's statement reads: "I want all my friends, family and fans to know that I am in good spirits and I will be fine. Contrary to rumors, I am in general population at PDC, and I have adjusted to the facility and to my fellow inmates who are all cool people. Each day, I read, sharpen my focus and grow. Of course, I wish I could be out to celebrate the release of my new album this week, The Naked Truth, but instead I am looking to take advantage of this time to work on my personal development. Thank you all for your continued support."

Kim's entertainment lawyer L Londell McMillan released an additional statement: "I was amazed at just how good Kim looked on my two visits to see her in prison last week. Even in a jumpsuit, Kim still has the style and swagger of a star. Kim respects her inmates and they respect her."

Pete Doherty: "It's Just Some Sort Of Mistake, That's All"

Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty is protesting his innocence after being arrested on suspicion of drug possession after spending a night in lockup when police found what they thought was an illegal substance on him after a concert in Shrewsbury, England.

Pete said the drugs were a prescription he was taking to treat an infection in his heroin replacement implant and that he is totally clean of illegal junk: "It's just some sort of mistake, that's all."

He added: "Every day of this tour we have been told we are going to get raided and basically, they (the police) have found f*** all."

Paris and Paris Broke Off Their Engagement - Months Ago

Socialite actress Paris Hilton has just given Us Weekly an exclusive that she has ended her five-month engagment to Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis.

In a statement to Us late Friday evening, Hilton said, "I'm sad to announce that I've called off my engagement. Over the last couple months I've realized that this is the right decision for me. We remain best of friends, and I'll always love him. I hope people will respect my privacy during this emotional time."

Rumors of their breakup surfaced in the last several weeks after Hilton, who had received a 24-carat, $5 million diamond engagement ring from Latsis, was rarely seen in public with her fiance.

"They really broke up a month ago," says a friend of the couple. "They are just very different people. But Paris hoped things would get better. They didn't so she decided it was best to move on."
, Last week, Radaronline reported that the engagement existed only in tabloids and were told by a source, "Paris is trying to save her image, denying the truth, but in reality, Latsis dumped her on orders from his family, specifically his mother."

For the past two months, the "Simple Life" star has been seen quite often with her album's producer, Scott Storch.
