Madonna sustained several broken bones on Tuesday, her 47th birthday, in a horseback-riding accident at her $16 million country estate in Ashcombe, just outside London.
The singer was rushed to a hospital where she was treated for three cracked ribs, a broken collarbone and a broken hand. Liz Rosenberg, her mouthpiece, said that Madonna took a spill while riding a horse she was unaccustomed to. And the horse went thickly thundering on.
Apparently, riding is a new thing for The Material Matriarch, so just about every horse is new to her. Rosenberg told the Associated Press that the star's been in the equestrian way for about "four or five months." In July, London's Mirror gossiped that Madonna's passion for riding was part of the Michigan-born singer's latest bid to morph herself into an English country wife. An image that should go smashingly with her faux British accent.
