It's been rumored since last winter that the marriage between Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey was caput and that they were only staying together to milk the publicity.
They been denying divorce rumors but according to one New York columnist, insiders are saying the two have, in fact, already hired divorce lawyers.
"The [sources] go so far as to say that, in fact, divorce papers were already drawn up. Wait. They go an inch further. Said big ears and big mouths actually said that the papers have, in fact, actually been signed. Signed!"
So says gossip columnist Cindy Adams of the NY Post who's been in the biz for decades and tends to dig up some PRET-TY reliable sources., Adams' report continued: "The [insiders] also said it's being deliberately muzzled so as not to harm their TV show. Thus, ain't no way to get confirmation anywhere. I thus put this — so that nobody calls and hollers that I'm stupid and dumb and a jerk who gets nothing right — in the realm of chat and rumor and conversation. However, if events prove this correct — remember, you heard it here."
