It is very possible that the actor they are speaking of is Greg Grunberg, AKA Weiss. It is being reported that he has confirmed to TV Guide that he is leaving in the early part of the season to begin work on a new show on a different network.

I dont think they are talking about GG.. his leaveing the show wouldn't "devastate" many of the ALIAS fans..

I wonder why MV would be leaving the show since he's always talked very highly of the show and has always said he loves working on the show..

He's being fired because his "costar" is an egotistical twit who has to make sure she is the one and only bright star wherever she goes (albeit she gets the job done in her oh-so sweet passive-agressive style). Mia Maestro and Michael Vartan were given good material and gave in return well-received performances last season. It's no coincidence they won't be back.

His character is being killed off and his funeral will be in the second episode. I understand that staff and crew members on the Alias are none too happy about this...and who to blame? While it is said that this was strictly an ABC "creative" decision I still lay the blame at the feet of Jennifer Garner. Her pregnancy, in my opinion, has had everything to do with the decisions made and plus it's been rumored she won't be returning if there is a S6. I find it interesting how she so sweetly said when S3 was beginning and she had renegotiated her contract that she would be around as long as they asked her...how things have changed since she met up with Affleck.

One less Alias viewer here. I will follow Michael Vartan wherever he goes and as far as Alias goes, hope it's cancelled mid-season. And no one wants to hear what I have to say about Mrs. Affleck...best left unsaid.

As soon as JG hooked up with Afflek it was no surprise that things would go down the tubes, especially since he went and knocked her up. I'd like to think that this is all Benny-boy's doing, but if Garner is enough of a dishrag to follow, then no great loss.

alias will not be the same without Vaughn. I watch it to see what happens between Syd and Vaughn. It will be very sad to see him go he is a great actor and loved by me. Im not happy that he is leaving and most of the viewers wont be either. I wish micheal the best for his future and finds a women like jennifer has found her man.

I seriously disliked the character, Vaughn! I know, I know! I'm crazy! But I always thought he was a whining pansy and that Sydney would be better off without ever having met him. Ever since season two I have been begging Vaughn to die. There wouldn't have been all that unrequited love crap, which I though wasted so much time on the show. I for one look forward to seeing some fun-loving butt-kicking with a little punk thrown in for my amusement. I miss the light-hearted feeling of the first season. OK, so the first season wasn't all fun and games and light-heartedness, I know, but it definitely wasn't all "ooh, my life sucks because of this and that and ooh, you hurt my feelings but I'm pressing on anyway. Aren't I a trooper" crap. If Vaughn dies. I will most definitely be watching the show anyway because I will be thrilled! Except, with the whole baby thing, Sydney's not going to be doing too much fun-loving butt-kicking... Oh Dear.

But if Weis dies, I'm so not watching the show anymore! I have been freaked out since season one that they would kill him off because he isn't one of the two main characters but he is important enough for people to care about him so I always thought he would be a good candidate if the producers needed to kill someone for the purpose of furthering the plot.

There were rumors flying around that Vartan wasn't comfortable around Garner after they broke up. And it got even worse when Affleck entered the picture and then married her on top of it. The baby was probly the last straw for him.I wish he wasn't leaving though cus he really did make the show for me... but if they kill off all the characters except Sydney, I think ABC's gonna have a problem.

I just watched the season premiere and I can't believe it!! How could they kill him off!? Of course, it's Alias, so you never know for sure if he's really gone, but I am so angry right now. I have been an avid Alias fan since the first season and I have to say that they may have just lost me.
I don't think it's any fault of Jennifer Garner's, though -- I love her, and if she's in love, then everyone should just leave her alone and let her be happy.

i have to make these comments, because some of you are really...well, i'll be polite and not say. none of us knows jennifer garner, but based on everything we ever heard about her, do you honestly think she'd insist they get rid of anyone? if your answer is anything other than no, than you're a...i'll stop again and try to be polite.this is one of those rumors that got started because it made good copy, and people have bought inot it because they're sheep. as for the show...it's never been just about vaughn, or sydney/vaughn....if that's the only reason you've watched it, your not a fan of alias...because that's only part of the show, not the whole show. lastly, there are some real good reasons why killing off a major character in what is being widely regarded as alias's last season is a very good creative move if you calmly think about it. if he is really dead, and none of us are certain yet i don't think...then creatively it could kind of go both ways. anyone still watching should by now, between lost and his other efforts, have enough faifth in jj's storytelling ability to at least give him the benefit of the doubt.

I have been a huge Alias fan since the very first season, and each show amazes me and makes me cry,scream, laugh.........This was no exception. I screamed so loud during the premiere last night and was so upset. I hope that Michael made the decision on his own to leave and I wish him well. I will miss his character on Alias and hope that this was a nightmare that Sydney will wake up from and he wont be gone. To all Alias fans I feel your pain.I hope ABC knows what they are doing.

Okay, yeah, I agree that I was highly depressed about last night's premiere. I'd like to know why Vartan is choosing, or was forced, to leave the show. But I'll still watch.. and is it fair to rage against a woman for making choices in her own life? I think that's awful, that you would demand a woman fit her entire life for your entertainment. I'm not a big Ben Affleck fan, but Jesus, these are people, not Barbie dolls. They have lives. Just like you.

Michael Vartan was the only reason I watched Alias for the past two years. I was so enamored with his demeanor that I went to the library and checked out the first three years' episodes on DVD, just to watch him. The show itself struck me as absurd, and the flightiness of the principal character was a distraction, rushing about like a fashion model gadfly, but I could tolerate the nonsensical story line, only because of Vartan's skill.
I am naturally disappointed by his departure from the program, wish him the best, and hope that he can continue playing hockey! I will not be surprised if the entire show is cancelled, because without him, why would anyone waste their time? Dallas without J.R.?

I was so upset when they killed off vartan on alias i cried while watching the show he was my favorite and the reason I became hooked on this show. Vartan and Garner work so good together and I think they look really good togther I dont know why she would have ever broken up with him and Ben Affleck should have stayed with Jennifir Lopez. I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who hated the fact that Vaughn was killed off. I'm thinking that they will bring him back near the middle or end of the season. I wonder what kind of action the show will have with a pregnant Jennifer. I don't know if I'll continue to watch this season, and am currently debating whether I should sell Seasons 1-3 on ebay. I hope that they know what they're doing, and that they are TRYING to increase viewership, because I do not see how they have tried to do that.

MV WAS STILL IN LOVE WITH HER IN REAL LIFE (I THINK) ANDSEEING HER WITH SUCH A LOSER (BEN ASSLICK) BROKE HIS HEART. ABC MADE HUGE MISTAKE. But i guess now he'll learn that it's best to never mix business with pleasure. maybe he's not dead, because if you watched the season premiere after he died jg didn't react the way someone would when the love of your life dies.and in the second episode they showed the body of someone who'd been frozen, it could be him, or they could have faked his death in order to drag out the men who wanted him dead. if jg indeed had him fired she'll get what's coming to her,because what goes around comes around.

If they were going to kill him out of the show completely, they would have given him a bullet in the head and notjust in the chest............Remember the last season episode people when Anna Espinosa came back and Syd said to Jack "I thought she was dead" to which he replied "so should be alot of people"(which I thought was hilarious)

I hope they come out later that he wasnt really dead, that they have faked his dead, I really hope so, if not the show is getting stupid, I mean poor Sydney first they killed her fionce, then she discovers she is not working for the CIA, then she also discovers that her mom is alive and later on the show she found has a sister?!,they killed her best friend Francie I dont know what happened to Will, then she looses 2 years memory, then they killed her husband who is Vartan and she finds out that she is waiting his child!!
Please dont do that! I like Alias, but if they killed Vartan it would be too much!

Oh I totally understand everyones heartache. It is like a piece of your family is gone. I have been a devoted Alias fan for years and I was heartbroken and shocked when they killed off MV. I really believe he may NOT be dead, but the rumors say he left on his own and may come back for a few episodes later in the season(maybe). I really hope so...the show just won't be the same.

I can't believe they killed Michael. I hated the fact that they changed his name on the show and revealed his secret life. It made me feel deceived too. I've watched EVERY episode to date because of Vartan and the impact he makes on the set. As far as Garner... her personal life is her business. I must admit that she and Vartan were like America's Sweethearts to me, but they are both entitled to choose their own happiness. I just hope that they return Michael to ALIAS. I am devistated of the new story line. I won't watch it again until I'm told he (MV) is back.

HEY PEOPLE DONT WORRY! Im sure he will come back at some point of the story, as you can see with other characters on the serie that they are "killed" but later result that they werent really dead. And in te case of the tension of the set on JG and MV you should read the article that Kristin Veitch wrote on E´s page that says that she visits the set when JG and MV have to do a love scence in the shower and for her surprise they are both laughing and MV make jokes like : "they pay me for doing this" or "this is for France!" and then he kisses JG.
