Grammy-award winning rapper Lil' Kim was sentenced Wednesday to spend a year and a day in prison for not talking to a federal grand jury. Kim lied to protect her friends who were involved in a shootout outside a Manhattan radio station in 2001.
The gun fight was between Kim's entourage and the rival rap group, Capone-N-Noreaga. One man was wounded as 22 shots were fired from six different guns. Before sentencing, Lil' Kim spoke to reporters about her false testimony and tearfully said, "At the time I thought it was the right thing to do but I now know it was wrong."
, Kim, 30, also asked the judge to go easy on her: "I have worked hard my entire life for everything I have, everything I have accomplished. I ask you to consider my entire life's work and not just the days in the grand jury and on the witness stand in the courtroom. I'm a God-fearing, good person."
He must have taken it into consideration, since she could have gotten up to 20 years behind bars.
The rapper reports to prison Sept. 19. Her lawyers are hoping she will be able to do her time in the facility in Danbury, Conn., so that she can be closer to her mother.
Is Danbury a real jail or a minimum security facility? Kim probably won't want to chill in general prison population after singing "paybacks a bitch motherfucker, believe me naw i aint gay this aint no lesbo flow" ...

It is truly a tragedy what has happened. Not only is Lil’ Kim a true American icon but her music served as the soundtrack of my high school and college years. Her fashion and sense of style has been one of my top inspirations in my designs and taste of music. To show my support I have created an outfit on the entry page of my site. I know that she will shine bigger and brighter once this order has surpassed.

I am a black female that has been to Federal Prision for 10 months in Greenville IL. I know several people at the camp and the prison in Danbury CT. It is the worst female federal prision there is, and also the oldest. Kim, if you see this, go to Alderson West VA where Martha Stewart was at. It is the best female federal prison, there are not many as there is. I have friends there and they have written me and told me that Kim was coming. I dont know how true it is. I met several women in Greenville Federal prison that got transfed from Danbury becasue they said it was so horrible! She would still be close to her mother in Alderson WV. You can request to the judge where you would like to do your time, especially if you are "camp status" like Lil Kim, which means she will not be behind the razor wire, she will be free to move around a camp with few rules. She will be in population, no doubt the feds dont discriminate, I dont care who you are! I understand what you are going through Kim, I was in the same sentecing range as you and Martha Stewart for a money crime, 10-16 months, and I got 13 months, and did 10 months on 13. Time went fast, it will for you to God Bless you, and thank God you have friends and family that will be doing your bid with you girl.
