Last week, Tom Welling who plays hunky young Clark Kent on "Smallville" confirmed that popular actor James Marsters (Buffy's boy toy Spike) is joing the cast this upcoming season as Professor Milton Fine. Comic book geeks know the character as Brainiac, one of Superman's greatest foes. Maybe it will help the series which has been lagging the past two seasons.
Tom spoke at the 2005 TCA Summer Press Tour and said, "We have a lot of surprises in store. The entire cast is re-energized, with our amazing finale last season, and we think our upcoming season will continue that momentum."
Tom revealed Marsters, in his new role, won't have a British accent and blond hair. "Which I'm kind of sad about, but we'll see," Tom joked.
, As for Tom fans, they can also look forward to his new terror/thriller film "The Fog" coming out in October: "In the small town of Antonio Bay, a terrifying and malevolent force hidden within a thick and eerie fog terrorizes its residents. Shrouded by the fog lies a ghastly secret of merciless revenge, one that the town’s inhabitants would do well to unravel – before it’s too late."
"The Fog" also stars Maggie Grace (Lost) and Selma Blair (Hellboy). It's release date is scheduled for October 14th. Watch the trailer.
