The Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes "We Are In Love" Tour managed to grab the lionshare of attention over the weekend at the MTV Movie Awards. Then Tom grabbed the spotlight at the L.A. premiere of "Batman Begins" on Monday. And he's not even in the movie.
Sadly, the press managed to ignore and overlook the cast of incredible A-list stars who were in attendance at the premiere: Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson and Gary Oldman. Instead, they focused on Cruise who walked along the sidewalk and signed autographs for fans.
Meanwhile, the Scientology angle is growing wierd. You have to ask, 'Did Katie drink the kool-aid?' It seems like she's being sucked in to the Scientology vortex and reports are that she has been spending a lot of time at the cult's center in L.A.
, They are certainly keeping an eye on her. She was accompanied at the "Batman Begins" press tour with "an entourage of Scientologists in tow," according to the New York Post. Cruise's sister and publicist, Lee Anne Devette, sat in on all of Holmes' interviews, which did not please the movie's producers and honchos at Warner Brothers Studio, who are worried about Cruise's bad PR reflecting on their film.
Earlier this year, 42-year-old Cruise fired his long-time and fiercely protective publicist Pat Kinglsey, and replaced her with his sister who shares his Scientology beliefs. The switch seems to coincide with Cruise's increasingly erratic behavior which is being questioned by most media outlets such as the Chicago Sun Times who ran the headline "Admit it, you're curious: Is Tom Cruise nuts or what?" and CBS asking "What is up with Tom Cruise?"

I just saw Batman Begins tonight. I thought the ensemble of male cast members incredible. The fantastic work of a very credible Christian Bale in conjunction with the warmth and care of the butler played by Michael Caine and the well acted Gary Oldman, Liam Neelson, Morgan Freedom made the film. They were all so professional, dignified and perfect and they all worked so hard. They were professional enough not to upstage or outshine one another. Then came Katie Holmes who seemed to have the least challenging part. Yes, her character was supposed to be tough but there was no underlying sensitivity, longing or poignancy in the way that she played it. I kept looking for more from her but it wasn't forthcoming. I hope that she is not cast again. Yes, Holmes knows how to deliver her lines but I don't think she works that hard. I didn't feel any sensitivity or chemistry with Bale coming from her at all (which is a feat since he's so handsome and sexy). From someone who had one of the smallest parts, I resent the fact that Katie Holmes and her goofball boyfriend Cruise literally stole attention from the movie. It shows a distinct lack of respect. The very great male actors in the film deserve all the attention they can get. Holmes put very little in to it except her well publicized, calculated relationship with Cruise. And why didn't that egomaniac stay away from the Hollywood premiere so the real actors could have their day in the sun! If you ask me, Ms. Holmes has gone off the deep end as well as taken a cheap shot at celebrity at the expense of the much finer, seasoned male performers in the film. I love them all for being such good guys (sports) and actors. Please keep Holmes and her Scientology monitors out of the next Batman movie. There are much better and more level headed actresses out there...like Nicole Kidman for instance.
And one last thing.... If Katie has acting 'teeth' why not take the role of Factory Girl. It would have been one way to prove it. Maybe she just isn't dreaming big enough.
