"Everyone's interested in becoming a pop star, American Idol, becoming another Beyoncé. And Top Model, I watch that show. I want to be on it. I also want to be on American Idol. Everyone's trying to do that." -- Serena Williams
Serena and Venus Williams will star in their version of a reality show. The sisters' off-court lives -- their family, friends and the glamour of big-time tennis -- will be featured in a 6-episode show (still untitled) but set to premiere on the ABC Family channel this summer. "The series will provide our fans with an up-close, inside look at our lives away from the tennis courts," Venus Williams said in a press release. Currently, Venus is ranked number nine in the world and little sis Serena is ranked number four.
, The William sisters have been known for their quirky fashion sense and aggressive tennis for years, and have always hinted that what they really want, is a pass to get into movies. When asked aboutit last year, Serena said, "I've been getting my reel together. I think they are looking at me more as an actress because I have a lot of potential and a lot of skills." Of course, she has skills as an actress -- just ask . . . Serena.
Doubtful that the "follow us around the house with a camera" reality show will be a major hit (along the lines of "The Osbournes") -- especially if the sisters take themselves too seriously with this thing (which they will). But, if the Williams sisters are anything, they are entertaining, so I'll definitely give it a look. Still, I wonder if Serena is in on the joke? If so, the gladiator leggings and retro sex kitten poses are heee-larious. If not, oh dear god.
