Amber Tamblyn isn't sure if her show "Joan of Arcadia" will be picked up for a third season but her movie career is already ready and waiting. God's favorite teenager has earned not so heavenly ratings in her show on Friday nights, despite a great cast that includes her angst-ridden beau Adam (Christopher Marquette) who cheated on Joan and then turned into a crying mimbo when she dumped him -- but that's another story.
Amber fans can look for her to star on the big screen in the upcoming "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," which is a story about four best friends who discover a pair of magical pants in a thrift store, and find that they oddly fit perfectly on each of the various sized girls. Each girl feels more confident and stylish while wearing them, which in turn changes their lives.
"It was honestly the best time I ever had on a movie set and I am 110 percent so proud of it," Amber says. "This will hopefully reinstall a state of nice feminism in young girls.", She describes her character, Tibby, as a rebel who's got blue hair, a pierced nose and ears. Amber adds that: "She's this really sarcastic, loudmouth girl that is always trying to be the obnoxious one in the group. Everybody else goes away for the summer and she stays home and she wants to make something called a 'suckumentary,' which is basically a documentary about people who suck in her town."
Amber hadn't read the book before she was cast but says, "I really didn't even know much about it, but once I got the part, I read it and I was blown away." The movie opens in U.S. theaters on June 3rd.
