It's one of the hottest shows on TV and your character has fallen out of a tree and died in the middle of the season. Now what do you do? For hot actor Ian Somerhalder, 26, you're forced to alter your career plans.
Somerhalder tells Entertainment Weekly in their story on "Lost" this week that he was "devasted" about being killed off. "The week before I got the call [about his imminent death], I started looking for a house in Hawaii. Now I'm looking for a house in Venice Beach."
Boone died in last night's episode when the small plane he was searching in fell out of a tree. Locke dragged the bloody Boone back to Doc Jack but he later died from the injuries. The show was especially graphic and well done. Too bad they killed off one of the best characters . . . or did they?
, Since its fall debut, "Lost" has thrown viewers numerous twists: Big guy Hurley got a string of mystery numbers from a mental patient, and won a $156 million lottery when he played them; Kate was a bank robber; John Locke was paralyzed before the crash cured him. And then there was the titillating stepsibling love between Boone and Shannon that would make Angelina Jolie and her brother James blush.
But Ian says the show's creators had "boxed themselves into a corner" by hinting that someone was going to die. He also revealed it was a plot twist that he and his fellow actors didn't appreciate. "They already fooled the audience twice," he says, referring to the "deaths" of Shannon which was only a dream, and then Charlie, who was revived. "It's like 'Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, I'm going to stop watching your show,'" Ian said.
He also told Entertainment Weekly that he was on a wine-tasting weekend in California in January when he got the bad news. "Thank God I already had four glasses of really good pinot in me," he said.
Okay, so hot boy Boone is dead . . .surely we can expect flashbacks in future episodes? No?
