I have to admit that I don't like serious lawyer dramas but "Boston Legal" is hardly serious, and it's a nice break from the 27 different varieties of "Law and Order" that are shoved on us. Plus, BL has the best looking cast and bestest writers of any of the prime time shows.

Actually, BL is more of a dark comedy that continually stretches the ever changing boundaries of the law. These lawyers are moving the goal posts of constitutional law more than the damn Supreme Court does. Let's just call Boston Legal a tongue-in-cheek drama (and, uh, tongue-in-elsewhere, if you saw the James Spader under-the-desk scene, with Rhona Mitra watching TV and looking bored as sh*t).
Oh, yes. This is where Rupert Everett comes in. It was announced today, that Everett will be joing the show for a few episodes. He'll play Malcolm Holmes, a "charming civil litigator" who is also Tara Wilson's (Rhona Mitra) ex-boyfriend. He'll be on three episodes and be Tara's opposing counsel in at trial. (Spader's character had a similiar case, against a former lover lawyer.)
But back to Rup. Tara (Rhona) will soon be bringing down the gavel on her brief office romance with Alan Shore (Spader), but it's not clear if Rupert's character will be the cause of it. Not to worry, Spader's deliciously sleazy alter-ego will move on as usual. , "Boston Legal" has skipped a couple of weeks but returns to the ABC Sunday night line-up on March 13 -- but without the "Desperate Housewives" lead-in. That show doesn't return until March 27. The back-to-back shows make up one of the best nights on TV, and even the BL cast can't help but watch. "It's not my cup of tea, really," Mitra said of D'Wives. "But it is one of those things that is sooooo entertaining, it's fascinating to watch."
Which is exactly what I would say of Boston Legal. Not my cuppa tea, but fascinating nonetheless.
But back to the Rup. He's joining a growing list of outstanding guest stars that have worked with the show's cast of attorneys, which includes the ravishing Brad Chase (played by Mark Valley), Lori Colson (played by Monica Potter), Denny Crane (William Shatner), "Just call me Schmidt" (Candice Bergen), and of course, Spader and Mitra.
